Trommekurs med BACARY SAGNA



Bacary Sagna (Senegal)

Bacary Sagna kommer fra Casamance i Sør-Senegal. Bacary er fra en griot-familie, budbærere av den gamle musikk- og muntlige tradisjonen i Senegal.

Bacary har i en årrekke holdt trommekurs i Casamance. og er også glødende opptatt av å formidle musikkulturen til barn og unge. Han har ledet flere barne- og ungdomsgruppen og tatt initiativet til at Mama Africa har en juniortrupp, som stadig rekrutterer unge talenter.

Bacary har siden 2010 hatt samarbeid med Sande Kommune og kulturskolen der. Tre ganger har unge dansere fra Norge reist på utveksling til Casamance. Siden 2019 spiller han for CAK i Oslo og underviser musikk i kulturskole og grunnskole. Han holder også work shops og diverse konserter.

Bacary Sagna hails from Casamance in southern Senegal and comes from a griot family, messengers of the ancient music and oral tradition in Senegal.

He learned to play as a boy and became an early member of a traditional music and dance ensemble; Mama Africa, for which he later became artistic director. Before coming to Norway, he was also a member of the dance company Compagnie Bakalama in the capital Dakar.

Bacary has held drum courses in Casamance for many years. and is also passionate about communicating the music culture to children and young people. He has led several children's and youth groups and initiated that Mama Africa has a junior squad, which is still recruiting young talents.

Bacary has since 2010 collaborated with Sande Kommune and the cultural school there. Three times young dancers from Norway have travelled to Casamance. Since 2019 he plays for CAK – African Culture Institute in Oslo. He also teaches music in Kulturskolen and in schools. In addition he gives drumming work shops and various concerts.
